The living/entertaining room is somewhat cool, due to the large amount of stonework in the surrounding walls. The canvas roof panels that make the ceiling let in a lot of light, and while not practical for many parts of the country, seems to work in the desert southwest. Although apparently they do have to be replaced fairly often, and if he had designed them today, they might have been some sort of opaque colored plexiglass instead.
