This fountain looks like a simple thing, but due to a variety of issues it had actually never worked. After having the tank enclosure re-tiled, identifying and resolving the electrical issue, cleaning all of the dirt and debris out of the tank, and finding the right pump, the water only flowed out of one dolphin.
The piece is actually made of copper, and there are small copper tubes branching off of one larger copper pipe, which the pump connects to. Well, after sitting for nearly 15 years the tubes became clogged with spider and ant residue, and required a lot of delicate cleaning of those tubes, which actually wasn't easy. So, resolving all of the issues around this dolphin fountain, and finally seeing it work, to me was metaphorically like smashing thru the last barrier to finally complete the project Sara started nearly 20 years before.
Seeing the Dolphin fountain working, was probably my favorite part of the whole project.
