Out of all the homes I saw during my time in Austin, this house was one of the more memorable, as it was essentially built like a castle. The ceilings are extremely high all thru the main floor, most of the interior walls are also stone, and most of the rooms are very large.

I was the contract Crestron programmer, so my first time onsite was just before they moved in. While I didn't see how it was built, it looked and felt like a modern castle, as it was always cool and quiet inside. Considering the size and amount invested the AV and automation systems were very modest, although there was a nice Lutron Lighting system installed.

The owner was a pilot and owned several jets, including a decommisioned Russian Mig fighter jet. One morning he showed me a few malfunctioning buttons on the Living Room touchscreen remote, saying he had a lunch meeting in San Francisco but would verify everything was good when he returned in the evening. The flexibility of not only owning your own aircraft, but being able to fly yourself rather than having to schedule flight crew, is the ultimate way to travel.
