While living on Gabriola Island, we made frequent trips to the big island and saw a lot of float planes. On one of Sara's trips to California, she took a float plane directly from Gabriola to YVR (Vancouver Airport), which took less than 30 minutes. One way in a car, considering the 2 ferry rides, would have taken nearly half a day. It's understandable why the float plane taxi's are so popular.
